Welcome to Ms. Silva's Class

The 2018/2019 school year promises to be an exciting and productive one. I want your child to be happy and successful in their 4th grade class and believe that you play a key role. That role is to continually show interest in and support for your child. The child who knows that his or her family is interested in and supports the school program will almost always have fewer problems in school and will enjoy greater success. I am eager to meet you, and I know  you will join me in setting high academic and behavioral expectations for the coming year.  Pursuant to district guidelines students will be expected to complete work within the California 4th grade standards.  All classwork will be written by the student in their planners and I will verify and initial each students planner at the end of each day. Any classwork not completed during the day will then become homework.   I encourage parents to verify that classwork is completed and also initial the planner.

I believe in fair and consistent discipline that encourages students to be responsible for themselves and their education. I  try to create a safe classroom environment where courtesy and kindness prevails and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures.

Please share with me any information regarding his or her special needs that will help me better serve your family. I believe that communication among parents, students and teachers is critical in assuring student success.  We are a team working toward the common goal of your child's educational success.  I will be sending letters home as well as communicating through Class Dojo, and the use of the Planners.  You can also email me at fsilva@eastsideusd.org

I feel that teaching is my most rewarding job ever, and am grateful for the experiences that brought me here.  In the past, I worked as a social worker for seven years, insurance adjuster for 5 years, counselor for 2 years, accounting specialist, and a salesperson.  I have  taught sixth grade for 7 years and 4th grade for 4 years, I'm excited to prepare Enterprise students for 5th grade.

In addition to reading, I love my pets, traveling, going to the beach to surf, riding my Harley, ATV riding, wakeboarding, camping, and anything outdoors.
